Where the content comes from
The System Design, DSA and AI Engineering lessons on Engineering Path are adapted from The Engineering Handbook by Handbook Academy and its contributors. The original work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).
Eleven System Design lessons are adapted from The System Design Primer by Donne Martin, licensed under CC BY 4.0. They are marked in their credit lines, and the adaptations are shared under CC BY-SA 4.0. The primer's images were not used.
The Machine Learning lessons are adapted from ML For Beginners by Microsoft Corporation and its contributors, including its illustrators Tomomi Imura, Dasani Madipalli and Jen Looper. The original work is licensed under the MIT License, © Microsoft Corporation.
What was changed
- Lessons were reorganized into courses, stages and parts, with new course pages, summaries and navigation.
- The content was restyled for this site: new layout, typography, diagrams rendering, callouts and code viewer.
- Some lessons were rewritten in a new voice and structure, with added examples. Those lessons say so in their credit line and link to the original.
- Illustrations in the AI Engineering course were redrawn as Mermaid diagrams, and em dashes were replaced with other wording or punctuation.
- Links were rewritten to point at the matching pages on this site; the first heading of each lesson is shown in the page header.
- Lessons adapted from The System Design Primer were expanded and rewritten, with new explanations, exercises and Mermaid diagrams, and some outdated advice was corrected.
- Progress tracking and search were added.
- In the Machine Learning course, lessons were placed in stages with new descriptions, quiz headings became plain links, and links to notebooks and assignments now point at the source repository. Only the Python lessons are included.

The adapted System Design, DSA and AI Engineering lessons are shared under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license (full text). You may copy and adapt it, as long as you give appropriate credit, link to the license, indicate changes, and share your adaptations under the same license.
The adapted Machine Learning lessons and their images stay under theMIT License, not CC BY-SA. You may reuse them if you keep that notice.
The site's code is licensed under the MIT License, which does not replace the lesson licenses above. The course structure text and page summaries are © 2026 Ridwan, and the Engineering Path name and logo are not licensed for use by other projects.
